Makovecz Imre

20.11.1935 – 27.09.2011

„From the very beginning I wanted to build a single building, the one that existed even before the creation of mankind.”

His art is unique and fascinating.

Many of his famous creations still impress visitors today, for example the Paks Church and the Evangelical Church in Siófok, the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, the swimming pool in Eger, the Onion House and the Hagymatikum Spa in Makó. In our country, his work is represented by more than one hundred buildings with different functions and distinct stylistic characteristics. In his view, architecture is nothing other than the harmonious union of building and environment.

The impressive Atlantis world sculpture group designed by Imre Makovecz dazzles visitors with light shows and three different themed films, evoking the mythical world of Atlantis.

The new building, covering 2.462 square meters, offers two stunning experience pools, a new reception,  and a four-season slide park, not to mention the partially covered thermal pool with a water bar, which will surely be everyone’s favorite.

The renovation of the entire green area, the relaxation garden with a promenade, VR experiences, as well as sports facilities such as beach volleyball courts and football tennis, provide even more reasons to visit. The Zsolnay thermal water drinking fountain, the thermal well with certified healing water, and the cold water well all contribute to maintaining your health.

The Zsolnay Fountain

The Zsolnay Fountain, designed by Angéla Hofecker from Makó, follows the inspiration of Imre Makovecz’s Tree of Life, and its base is characterised by the distinctive Zsolnay glaze. The medicinal drinking water fountain, the thermal water fountain with medicinal water rating, and the cold water fountain all contribute to maintaining health.
